Any Minute - Book Review

I just finished reading the book "Any Minute" written by Joyce Meyer and Deborah Bedford. The book is fiction, but about a woman named Sarah, who is always too busy, wrapped into her life at work. She is looked at as selfish, and only wanting to do what she feels right for herself. She lives a life of taking the best she can possibly get, even if that means hurting others around her. She neglects her family-her husband, her 8 year old son, and her baby girl- denying every possible being of neglect... she refuses to believe she is putting her job before them. She see's nothing wrong with her and the choices she makes, but can never figure out why she feels so alone and miserable. Time after time, she disappoints her son, by giving him meaningless promises and never following through...and always fighting with her husband, their relationship begins to fail.

Sarah is assigned a breakfast meeting with very important clients, in which she is late to, by being stuck in traffic. The bridge she was on began to close off so it could open up to let the ship beneath, through, but Sarah thought she could make it before the bridge opened all the way...and the next thing she knows, she realizes she's in trouble. BIG trouble. In the bottom of an icy river, her chances on living are very slim.

Sarah gets a second chance on life, to change and be the woman she was made to be. It's hard at first, for her to catch on, but eventually she begins understanding and realizes what she's suppose to do. Making a difference in others lives, and everything around her begins to become brighter...except her relationship with her husband. It took another life risking situation, this time with her 8 year old son, to get her to realize her and her husband have got to try harder...to be in love once again.

I won't give the whole story away, in case you decide to read it-which I recommend you do, it is a really good book!-but it ends in a positively happy note and I am more then happy I read it. I will leave you with a great quote from the book, which I find to be something we all should remember.

"Any minute you might get the chance to make someone else happy.
Any minute you might get your chance to be a giver. So be watchful at all things and don't let any opportunities to do good pass you by. "

Day 17:

Me and my son made homemade butter. So easy and such an experience :)

350 Days.

Homemade Butter+Recipe

Making butter is so easy! Makes for a fun kid experiment too :)

Me and my lil man made our own and this is how...

Ingredients needed:
(and later you may want some salt to flavor it)

Begin by pouring Heavy Whipping Cream into the jar, about 3/4ths the way full.

screw the lid on tight and then...........
SHAKE!!
And shake and shake and shake some more. You have to shake a long time to get it going!

Here's the 1st consistency: Whip Cream texture.
If you add some sugar to this, you could use it on desserts to add some extra yumminess!

But..if you just keep on shaking....You get...butter!

You will see, there's liquid in with the butter clump. This is what they call "buttermilk" but it tastes nothing like the actual store bought buttermilk. So, carefully pour out the liquid into a cup. I put my hand over the top of the glass so the butter wouldn't come out, but just enough for the liquid to be able to.

You can drink the "buttermilk" if you like! I did and it was delicious. Tasted more like milk with whipping cream then anything and I thought it was tasty :)

Once you pour out the liquid, you can add your optional amount of salt...Then put the lid back on the jar and shake for a tiny bit more.

And then you will have purely smooth.....
BUTTER!
Spread your butter on some toast and enjoy! *Deliciousness*

Nostalgic Toy Find

We were shopping at Goodwill and I came across a toy I use to have as a little girl!! It is a boy toy, was actually my brothers as a kid, but I stole it to play with my barbies with :) This toy was a man, who I believe was a wrestler. He wore a green suit with $$$ Signs all over it. I would pretend he was a salesman trying to steal all my barbies money hehe. Well I found that guy at Goodwill and got that excited nostalgic feeling..but didn't buy it. After I went home, I kept thinking about that toy and wished I bought it! LOL. I told my husband about it and he said I should have gotten it, he knew exactly what I meant by the nostalgic feeling and wanting it..so he said we would check the store out the next day and hope it would be there. Well the next day, other plans came up so we didn't get to...but another day later, we went back and I couldn't find it. I was kinda bummed but I was fine lol..then my son says "mama, is this it???" And he holds up a plastic wrapped box with stuff in it, and there he was. The man in the green $$$ suit. Along with several other old toys my brother had as a kid! The box included 5 different action figure guys from the early 90's, a whole pack of 150 glow in the dark stars, and underneath that, Lincoln logs!! All this for only $2.99 quite a deal! So I was happy, my husband was happy for me, and my son was happy he got new toys :)
Great find and so glad I did.

Lil Man's Shoes

We found our little boy some cute And1 shoes! My hubby wears And1 so he wanted to get these for our little guy, plus they're just so stinkin adorable :)
They were at Ross for $20.

Little man is 4 years old and is in a size 12! I think he's going to have big feet like his daddy...

Day 11:

Made homemade bread with my lil man today. I love this pic, seeing his little hand with the salt ready to be thrown into the mixing bowl.

Homemade Bread+Recipe

I did a Tray Activity with my son, to the book "Bread Comes To Life"
In the back of the book, it holds a recipe to make amazing bread! Here's how.

Start with the ingredients of:
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 pack of yeast
1/4 c Vegetable Oil
1/4 c Honey
2 tsp salt
1 Cup of Water -slowly poured in, while mixing.

Mix all together til it forms a lump

{Here are some shots of my son putting in the ingredients :) }

When a nice clump forms, lay it on a floured surface. Let sit for 10 minutes.
Then Knead 100 times or so, and form into a ball.
If it is too doughy, add more flour and knead some more.

Put ball into an oiled container and roll around, to coat it full, then let it sit,
covered in plastic wrap (or a cloth) til it rises twice its size.

Punch a hole in center to relieve from air pockets. Knead several times.
Shape into rectangle and sit in loaf pan and cover with cloth.
Let it rise til it gets higher then the lip of the pan.
Take plastic wrap off and Cook in oven at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes or so.

Comes out beautifully! Spread butter over top..

Isn't it just beautiful? Slice and serve!

I put butter (check out my homemade butter here!)
and homemade blackberry spread on a slice. So delicious!
